Mentoring at ResearchRound
Research Mentors support 1-2 participants to gain practical research skills by guiding them on a research area over a program-defined period.
Steps to Mentoring
ResearchRound is working diligently to improve the quality of researchers in lower resource areas to enable them to contribute more meaningfully to local and global development. We are counting on lots of goodwill at this early stage. The procedure for mentoring is as follows;
A research mentor must currently be a faculty member of a research institution or carrying out their research in similar institutions.

Mentors engage fortnightly or monthly with selected participants based on agreed meeting periods.
Mentors do not need to complete a research project during the program duration. Research projects may be at the beginning, middle or end stage. What counts is getting the participant acquainted with global standards of research processes and the engagement would have been deemed successful. Participants must also be able to make a meaningful presentation on the research project at the end of the program.
ResearchRound delivers on promised benefits, if applicable.
Benefits
While this is not yet a paid engagement, facilitators may gain the following;
- Free interview and publicity for your research work, if applicable.
- A gift card token of appreciation.
- A LUNE Champion badge and inclusion on our wall of champions.
- Opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the African research space through research capacity strengthening.
- Opportunity to widen your professional network.
