A future of equitable progress powered by the intelligence of every community.

We believe that world-class reasoning is a universal asset. By providing access to foundational research infrastructure within low- and medium-income countries, ResearchRound focuses on activating and strengthening human intelligence in areas where it has been historically under-resourced.

We collaborate with stakeholders across the globe to build robust research capabilities within local researchers and ventures. This investment in local talent empowers researchers to lead the discovery process while enabling ventures to develop solutions that are most appropriate for their specific contexts. Through this work, ResearchRound contributes to a truly accessible global knowledge base that is inclusive of diverse local realities and fueled by regional brilliance.

What Keeps Us Up at Night

Africa still contributes less than 2% of global research output and hold 0.1% of global patents while having 18% of the global population and some of the toughest developmental challenges. Africa’s population is billed to increase to 25% by 2050, yet there are few signs that African research will develop to keep up.

Historical Challenges

Scientists in LMICS face entrenched barriers to accessing quality training, research collaboration, funding, and infrastructure. These challenges have made it harder for many institutions to develop robust research ecosystems to address developmental challenges.

Variability in Quality of Research Output

Some institutions produce high-caliber, internationally competitive research, while many others struggle with resource constraints and capacity issues that impact research quality.

Research-Innovation Gaps

Despite recent improvement and advocacy, research-industry linkages remain a significant challenge. Thus, research is not sufficiently driving local innovation. Organisations do not have access to sufficient local intelligence to drive inspiring breakthroughs and drive down cost of solutions.

Who We Work With

ResearchRound works with emerging and established researchers, private ventures, social enterprises, public organisations, research funders and so on.

We also work in close collaboration with leading organisations and stakeholders aligned on our mission to significantly bridge research quality gaps, resource gaps, and collaboration gaps among researchers, innovators and practitioners.
