Description 

The goal of research is to expand knowledge and solve problems. This usually begins with a research question. The quality of a research expedition is founded on the quality of the research question. Thus, how do we improve our chances of choosing the right questions to explore? How do we improve the quality of problems we approach to make our research more worthwhile?

INTRODUCTION
We introduce the program to participants. This session is about improving problem discovery. When the right problems are easily noticed, we can ponder on the quality questions that lead to research. How can we improve our ability to find the right questions?  

– Introduction
– Problem Identification
– Thinking Disposition – How to Build Your Thinking Disposition
– Artful Thinking
– Thinking Routine. 

 

Session 2
4.30PM, MARCH 14, 2021 

HONING THE QUESTION
We delve further into problem discovery and learning more about problems we choose to ensure we have truly arrived at the best research problem/questions to work on. 

– Honing the question
– Framing Effect (Biases and Heuristics)
– Root Cause Analysis
– Problem Statement and Question Definition.
– Problem Analysis 

 

Session 3
11AM, MARCH 20, 2021 

GROUP SESSIONS AND PRESENTATIONS
We allow participants to form groups to discuss ideas around specific problems. Groups share their research questions and the process they used in making the choice and why it is a feasible question to work on.
